– With his recent runs at North American Masters ( R3 at Toronto & QF at Cincinatti) Jeremy is knocking again the door of top-30 ( right now standing as #33, was #31 on November 2009) after a stormy 2011 in which his long time coach, Frédéric Fontang started legal actions against him, after they stopped their professional relationship, demanding Jeremy money because of a contract Chardy signed when he was 18 years old, and a year in which he went down in the rankings, dropping out of top-100. But 2012 has been different; the French native started the year winning New Caledonia Challenger and reaching Vina del Mar SF’s, going up to #65. The South American clay swing kept being good for him, as he reached Acapulco QF, beating #17 Kei Nishikori in the process. He had a few early losses in the next month combined with reaching QF at Casablanca and Hamburg, and reaching Tunis Challenger final, losing to Ruben Ramirez Hidalgo. But everything changed in North America ; in Toronto he defeated a slumping Donald Young in 3 sets and then #6 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in straight sets [ 6-4 7-6(5)]. However, he missed a great chance of advancing further, as he lost to unseeded Marcell Granollers by 6:1 6:4. In Cincinatti, even though he lost in the last round of the qualies to Fabio Fognini, he got in as a LL, and didn’t missed his chance, beating #16 seed Andy Roddick 7:6(4) 6:3, and he confirmed his good run of form beating Denis Istomin by 6:4 6:3. In R3 he got the best win of his career, beating #4 Andy Murray by 6:4 6:4, seeming like a player who could be top-20 easily. However, the run got to an end in QF, losing easily to Del Potro 6:1 6:3. Right now he’s standing at 27 in the RACE, with 973 pts., and he has a great chance of ending the year in the top-30.
